2/22/12 - 4/8/12: Lent & Easter

In the church calendar, Lent is a season for "spiritual house cleaning,” study and reflection. This season begins on Ash Wednesday and culminates in Holy Week and the celebration of resurrection and renewal on Easter Sunday. In many Christian traditions, it is a practice to give something up for Lent, remembering Jesus’ sacrifice. You may choose to do that, but we hope that you will also add something to your life: reflection on the ways in which the ancient wisdom of the Bible speaks to our lives today.

This year, we will be exploring the life and mission of the church: "Being the Church” on Sunday mornings in worship, and "We Are the Church Together” on Wednesday evenings in study. The topics and Bible readings are provided in this brochure so that you may read them and come ready to share your questions and ideas.

As we explore what it is to be a church, this is a good time to invite a friend or neighbor to experience North Church. Wednesday night sessions are interactive and appropriate care will be provided for younger children. We hope to see you Sundays and Wednesday nights!

Join us at
Crossroads

Sunday, February 26

North Church members and friends are returning to the CROSSROADS Soup Kitchen to prepare and serve meals to our hungry Detroit neighbors. We invite YOU to join us. You may drive directly to Crossroads if you wish or meet at church before 7:45 a.m. (in Fellowship Hall) and carpool with other church members.  The morning shift is an excellent time for children under 16 years of age to go, (accompanied by a parent) as there are many jobs available for them to do.

Please click here (pdf: 40KB) to see the various volunteer options available.

Habitat in New Orleans

Would you like to "get away” for a week to a warmer climate? Do you want an opportunity to work off those "holiday pounds” in the fresh air? Would you like someone else to cook you some semi-good meals for a week? How about a slumber party every night for a week? Have we got an opportunity for you!!!  Details
