Our Worship Service                                                                                                                                  Sundays, 10:30 - 11:30 am
North Congregational Church's Sunday worship service is a mix of fellowship, prayer, message, and traditional music.  Sermons and curriculum generally follow the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL).
North Congregational Church utilizes the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.  Our hymnal is The New Century Hymnal (The Pilgrim Press 1995).

Our typical Sunday Order of Service is as follows:
  • Prelude:  organ, piano, or one of our bell choirs.
  • Ritual of Friendship:  greeting one another in the pews.  Our minister shares Concerns of the Congregation - upcoming events and illnesses..
  • Hymn:  Chancel Choir and congregation.
  • Call to Worship:  responsive reading, led by our Lay Reader for the day (a youth or adult member of the congregation).
  • Choral Response:  Chancel Choir.
  • Invocation and Lord's Prayer:  unison reading led by our Lay Reader.
  • Hymn:  Chancel Choir and congregation.
  • Unison Reading:  usually from the Book of Psalms, led by our Lay Reader.
  • Anthem:  Chancel Choir.
  • Pastoral Prayer
  • Offerings
  • Solo:  member of our Chancel Choir.
  • Scripture Reading:  by our Lay Reader.
  • Message:  from our Senior Minister.
  • Hymn:  Chancel Choir and congregation.
  • Benediction

Coffee hour follows our worship service - a time for fellowship and catching up with old and new friends.  Coffee, tea, lemonade, and donut holes are served.
    North Congregational practices open communion,
served six times a year - the first Sundays of October, December, January, February and June, plus Maundy Thursday. All in attendance are welcome to participate.
Special evening worship services are held on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.  Throughout the year special events add to our worship service: baptisms, confirmation, performances of the children's choir, and our Christmas pageant among others.
