"Egypt - Joseph's Journey from Prison to Palace"

August 9-13, 2010
9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
at

First Presbyterian Church

Again this year, we’re joining with First Presbyterian Church and Antioch Lutheran Church to re-create a Bible Time Adventure that makes the Bible come to life for students who are entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. We’ll journey to the land on the Nile (which will be found in First Presbyterian Church on Farmington Road at 11 Mile) to follow the story of Joseph who was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, was unjustly imprisoned by Pharaoh, and became a trusted advisor and a prince of Egypt through his reliance on God’s love and care.

Through music, games, small group experiences, trips to visit Joseph in jail and in the palace. In addition, every day includes time in the Marketplace where children can visit market stalls to make Egyptian headbands, bracelets and ointments, make and play drums, make bricks, Egyptian board games, hieroglyphic name necklaces, paper and much more!

This year, each “tribe” will be making a blanket for Operation Kid to Kid, a project of World Vision. The blankets will be included in Promise Packs that are going to children around the world whose lives have been affected by AIDS and by extreme poverty. Every “Egypt” VBS is making these blankets, and together they will enable many kits to go to children. Just as Joseph experienced God’s love and care and found himself able to show mercy, our students will be able to share God’s love and care with needy children throughout the world.

Click here for a registration form. Invite a friend or neighbor to enjoy Egypt and learn about Joseph’s amazing story and God’s amazing love!
