Our Music

Music is a major part of the life of North Congregational Church.  The Church offers many opportunities for adults, youth, and children to become involved in our joyous music program.

  • Our Chancel Choir performs during our Sunday worship service and special events.
  • Chancel Bells performs on selected Sundays and special events.
  • Our Children’s Choir performs for the congregation on special occasions.

Our Director of Music is Laurie Meeker, the organist is Patricia Butler, the bell choirs is directed by G. Byron Turner, and the children’s choir is directed by Karen Sirovy.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Laurie Meeker, is an exceptional group of about 25 singers, church members, and friends dedicated to bringing music to the North Congregational worship services. Their repertoire, accompanied and a cappella, includes traditional sacred selections, spirituals, contemporary Christian and everything in between. Anyone interested in being part of the Chancel Choir’s musical offering is welcome to join us. Laurie would be happy to hear from you.

Most often the Choir is accompanied by organ or piano, but they have also enjoyed working with large and small professional instrumental ensembles of strings, woodwinds and brass or piano, bass and drums. The volunteer Choir is supplemented by a professional quartet of section leaders who also sing solos on a rotating basis. Our current soloists are Rebecca Eaddy, soprano; Kayleigh Ciccarelli, mezzo-soprano; Gregory Stinson, tenor; and James Wilking, baritone.

The Chancel Choir sings at Sunday services, September through mid-June, as well as at special services throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings prior to the 10:30 a.m. Worship service.

Chancel Bells

Our Chancel Bell Choir performs periodically at Sunday services and special occasions. Chancel Bells are directed by G. Byron Turner.

Children’s Choir

It is a special treat when the Children’s Choir shares their music with the congregation.  The children practice in conjunction with Sunday School classes.  They may participate in special worship such as including Halloween (in costume), Heritage Sunday, and the Christmas Pageant.
